myhealthlondon is an invaluable resource for the public and an plays a key role in the NHS digital primary care transformation plans for London. The website and associated digital assets give access to live service information and the latest news and developments about health, care and wellbeing on a single website. It provides residents, professionals and visitors with access to the NHS Directory of Services (DoS) for London and receives over a million page views each year.

This is the same database used by the NHS 111 service, and is the most accurate and up-to-date urgent/unscheduled care service directory available, including information on bank holiday opening times and the latest London-wide health promotion and behaviour change campaigns from partners, including the Healthy London Partnership, Public Health England and NHS England London.

The public facing search function currently gives access to service information on GPs, Pharmacy, Opticians, Dentists, Urgent Care, Sexual Health, A&E and End of Life care services. More services are being added to the functionality, for example; pharmacies which offer ‘Stop Smoking’ services.

Key updates include:

  • The site is a key part of the digital strategy for London and long-term plans for NHS England’s proposed NHS Digital (NHS.UK) solution
  • Local authority data sharing process continues with ADASS and London Councils. NHS and local government colleagues have agreed to extend the myhealthlondon service finder to include data from relevant local authority services and voluntary bodies operating in each borough. This will promote public access to detailed local service information, as well as enable professionals, particularly in general practice to sign-post people to local groups, activities and support (‘social prescribing’)
  • Development of a consultation hub or portal to engage patients and the public with commissioner-led service change proposals wherever they happen in London, leveraging existing visitor traffic
  • Development of the myhealthlondon Professional offer (trials through London Ambulance Service, GP pilots and Care Navigators).

The professional version of myhealthlondon is now being piloted which will eventually enable access to health, local authority and third sector services through a pioneering collaboration between the NHS in London and local authorities. We are developing this as a preferred channel with enhanced functionality and reach.

“myhealthlondon Professional and the myhealthlondon website helps ensure that all of the healthcare ‘touchpoints’ across the Capital are assisting people to access the right services, at the right time and in the most appropriate setting.” explains Tony Johnson, Associate Director, Office of London CCGs.

“It uses the same Directory of Services (DoS) database used by NHS 111, providing accurate and up-to-date urgent and unscheduled care service directory available across the NHS, including information on Christmas and New Year bank holiday opening times. Information on the DoS includes over 11,000 urgent care services, community health providers and specialist healthcare services in London, with many more services continually being added. It’s where thousands of Londoners look every week to find local services with maps and travel options. Myhealthlondon Professional will be really helpful for surgeries to signpost people to local pharmacies, clinics and sources of support that we hope will help to ease the pressures on busy practices.”

myhealthlondon provides maps and travel options, contact information, opening times and service information for primary care, urgent and unscheduled care, community services and maternity services in London.
